NeoBohèmes
The NeoBohème series was a fun project based on a mini series of speed-painted avatars inspired by the metaverse, for the metaverse. Each avatar was digitally painted (~ speed-painting) with a graphic tablet and finally edited. In most cases, generated sprites are used as unique identifiers for the NeoBohèmes. Because I liked the sprites as a visual element for identification (~ low level signature) I continued using it in many other artworks / projects.
> MetaBohème PFP
The MetaBohème project contains generated avatars and is a small follow-up project within the NeoBohème universe. Each item of the project is generated based on 13 groups of (~ round about 200) visual layers. The outcome is a random image composition, but is not a generative artwork.
Every metaBohème-Token (because it’s an NFT project) comes along with various (in-/visible) traits / features. Most of the underlying visual assets are drawn by hand (in Procreate), but the backgrounds are created in different techniques (e.g. via GAN or digital painting techniques) and generated sprites are used to represent spiritual groups. A categorization into teams exists as well, represented through colors. Rarity levels are injected to prepare the project for additional dynamics, e.g. future game mechanics connected to the blockchain. The metaBohème project is a mashup of different ideas an techniques, to me it represents the joy in creative exploration. I would not call the metaBohèmes artworks, but the project is the output of a creative process. The concept of the metaBohèmes is designed to be open for any speculative interpretation.
> LatentBohème
LatentBohème | In between memories and the closed loop: The LatentBohème series makes use of AI. I wanted to adapt the original Neobohème images as input for a transfer into something new. So in a first step all LatentBohèmes are created using Stable Diffusion (v2.1_768_ema…) for image-to-image capabilities based on original neobohème images. Additional text / prompt input is used to define a certain target corridor for the new interpretations. After the curation of many experiments, the selected outcome was edited or overpainted. In the tradition of the original series this was done with the same tools, namely a graphic tablet and photo editing / digital painting software.
